Riding the Legacy Trail with Hike & Bike America

Hike & Bike America (Pete Bostich) and Florida Biking made an early morning 30 mile run on the Legacy Trail & Venetian Waterway Park (Venice Trail). Beautiful day, went out with no wind (60 F) and returned with a headwind and 85 F.

The Legacy Trail is a 10.6 mile nature and recreation trail, running from just south of Clark Road in Sarasota (Florida) to the City of Venice and the Venetian Waterway Park which is 4.6 miles. These are two of the most popular recreational areas in Sarasota County. Thousands of walkers, joggers and cyclists use these trails everyday to exercise, connect with nature or just relax.

Sarasota County is a beautiful area that has something for everyone like the #1 beach in America, Siesta Beach, great shopping, fine dining and of course, the best sunsets anywhere. The best part is that virtually all of it is accessible from these trails.

We entered the beginning of the trail at McIntosh Rd. Trail head and turned around at Caspersen Beach after a brief visit to the water. This 30 mile trip makes for a great morning or afternoon ride or for the true explorers the entire day can be spent visiting all the sites along the way including a stop at the beach!
